About me...

My name is Louise Amos.  I have been involved in Border Collies since the day I was born.  My mum registered the kennel name and we have shared it since I was nine years old!

My first dog was a blue merle border collie called Linchael Fleck (Fly).  I competed in obedience, agility and breed showing competitions with her.  We did try our hand at sheep herding too, but with little success.  I did lots of junior handling competitions and won into the finals of the British competition when I was 11.  Unfortunately I can't find any photos of that, but my outfit was delightful!  I won a beginners obedience with Fly and we went to Crufts as part of the Junior Obedience team for the Midlands in its second year.  We came fourth individually and won the team competition.  I do have some photos of the occasion but I can assure you the reason they are not here is because I have no scanning capability here, NOT because of the ill-advised perm I had done a few days before the event.  Honest.

Soon afterwards I left for university and then I worked overseas for some years.  It wasn't until 2002 that I settled down back in the UK and thought about getting another Border Collie.

A few months later, Harry arrived.  A year after that, Sally came along.  Another 18 months and Coire is on the scene.  I found myself wanting to spend more time with my dogs, so a change of lifestyle was called for.......

I am now a Shepherd on Ashdown Forest.  More precisely I manage a project to reintroduce grazing to the heathland on Ashdown Forest without the use of fences.  This means that I have to shepherd the sheep all day out on the Forest, returning them to inbye land at night.  Have a look at the blog I keep as part of my job here
